Plátano Ancestors Room #2, 2023. Digital collage animation gif, video loop. Install: 55”+ monitor, with flashdrive or media player. Or video projector for a larger throw or full wall.

This Plátano Ancestors Room is an expression of diaspora interiority; the in-between space we inhabit after having to leave a place to settle and set roots somewhere else. A lingering question of belonging. A displacement of ‘home’ that can never truly be returned to, but can exist as a spiritual site configured through memory and fantasy. The Plátano Ancestors await in this room. They breathe into and electrify this sacred speculative space; sharing knowledge with those who can sit with the discomfort of displacement, where grief can offer solace.
