Detail of print.
Mano de Obra. When I was a child, my parents and I lived in a wooden house in Borikén in the mountains. We resisted hurricane winds together, droughts, rainy seasons. The wooden house now gone, its foundation left bare. My parents for years have been using this foundation as a terrace to grow medicinal herbs. We have been rebuilding for such a long time. A recurring cycle of destruction and reconstruction. Cut and bruised hands and hearts. This foundation is so strong, we take it with us even when we are forced to leave Borikén and settle in the diaspora. This becomes a haunting.
